Questions & answers

  • Can I take it with Daily Foundation?

    Asked by Rochelle P. ·

    Answered by The Nutriens team

Yes, they're both part of our Daily trio. Sunlight Foundation has 50 mcg (2,000 IU) of vitamin D3 and Daily Foundation has 10 mcg (400 IU), so 60 mcg (2,400 IU) a day together. If you get vitamin D from anything else or take medication, check the total with your doctor.

  • Is it vegetarian?

    Asked by Zoe C. ·

    Answered by The Nutriens team

No. The softgel is made of gelatin, glycerin and water.

  • Does it contain soy?

    Asked by Bianca G. ·

    Answered by The Nutriens team

Yes. The vitamin D3 is carried in soybean oil and corn oil, so if you avoid soy, Sunlight Foundation isn't the right pick for you.

  • When's the best time to take it?

    Asked by Frank O. ·

    Answered by The Nutriens team

The label says one softgel a day, with no set time. Vitamin D3 is fat-soluble, so a lot of people take it with a meal that has some fat in it, like eggs or avocado toast.

  • Can my kids take this?

    Asked by Nate S. ·

    Answered by The Nutriens team

Sunlight Foundation is labeled for adults. For children, please ask your pediatrician what's right.

  • How long does a bottle last?

    Asked by Wendy H. ·

    Answered by The Nutriens team

100 days at one softgel a day, which works out to about 20 cents a day at full price.

    Tiny softgel, no excuses

From November to March I barely see the sun on a workday. Sunlight Foundation is the easiest supplement I take: one tiny softgel with breakfast, which for me is usually eggs, so I figure the fat helps. My doctor was happy with my levels at my checkup this fall. 100 softgels for $19.90 works out to about 20 cents a day. No-brainer.

    Reply from the Nutriens team

Eggs and a softgel, the perfect pair. Thanks, Abby.

    Great, but it's gelatin

Works for me, tiny and easy to take. Taking a star off because the softgel is gelatin and I'd prefer a vegetarian option.

    Lasts forever

100 softgels, one a day, so it's over three months before I reorder. Cheapest thing in my cabinet and the one I never skip.

    For long indoor winters

I work inside all day and our winters are long and dark. I take one with lunch, usually something with a little fat in it like avocado or cheese. Never had an issue.

    It's vitamin D

Does what it should, I guess. I can't feel anything, but you don't really feel vitamin D. Three stars because I can't tell you much more than that.

    Reply from the Nutriens team

That's a fair and honest review, Marty. Vitamin D isn't something most people feel day to day; its job is to keep your daily intake steady. If you'd like to know where you stand, your doctor can check your levels. And if it isn't for you, message us through our contact page and our 30-day guarantee covers it. The Nutriens team

    Heads up: contains soybean oil

For anyone avoiding soy: the D3 is in soybean oil and corn oil. Doesn't bother me, but my wife can't take it. Otherwise a great price.

I take this with Daily Foundation at breakfast. Checked the total vitamin D with my doctor first. Super easy.

    A few softgels stuck together

The package sat on my porch in the afternoon sun and a few softgels were stuck together when I opened it. The rest were fine and I've been taking them, but it was annoying.

    Reply from the Nutriens team

Sorry about that, Shannon. Softgels don't love sitting in direct sun, and a clump in a new bottle isn't the experience we want for you. Message us through our contact page with your order number and we'll send a fresh bottle, or refund you under our 30-day guarantee, whichever you prefer. The Nutriens team

    Good D3, simple label

I like that it's just D3 in oil, nothing else going on. My only note: the bottle is a lot bigger than it needs to be for softgels this small.

    My winter staple

Started in November when the clocks changed. Tiny, cheap, and I take it with my avocado toast.
